Jibe vs Jive

In a recent meeting, I heard someone say "that doesn't jive with what I knew about...", and I wondered if that was correct. Indeed, "to jibe" means "to coincide with", while "to jive", at least according to the American Heritage Dictionary, means "to cajole or mislead".
