I mentioned recently getting interesting links in blog comments;
soundtransit.nl is one of them. It's a CC-licensed repository for soundscapes. People go out and record various things, and upload them. The sounds on the site range from ambient sounds from backyards, libraries and churches to trains and air traffic controller conversations. And all available for remixing. Neat stuff.
